COMDEX + the Changing Dynamics of Demo Culture

The history of computing is full of examples of “demos” of new technology for an investor or consumer base. This project excavates the history of the first large-scale computing convention/expo as a key point in cultural and economic history of computing.

Changing Evidential Cultures in the Criminal Legal System

This project focuses on the role of emergent technologies on the legality, standards and norms around evidence collection, documentation, forensic analysis, courtroom presentation and archives.

The Occult Internet

This project explores the role of the Internet in contemporary occult practice and culture.

Doxa: media artifacts of conspiracy

This project interrogates the role of particular media objects in conspiracy theory thinking. In particular, I am interested in collective and individual analyses of artifacts and how they function as evidential touchpoints for a more expansive set of theories.

Paranet: Cultures of Evidence

This work focuses on an early internet Bulletin Board System that brought together “alternative research.” I am interested in how these communities evaluated and came to consensus on particular forms of evidence and how they created parallel cultures of research and legitimation.
